Aptos Foundation Twitter account was hacked. Administration warns about phishing attack

  • Users were asked to “claim rights” to some of the APT tokens
  • The action turned out to be a phishing attack targeting customers’ personal data
  • The number of possible victims is unknown

Aptos Labs reported last night, July 6, that the Aptos Network Twitter page was compromised. Apparently, scammers used this account to promote a fake APT token giveaway. Users are asked to exercise caution and prudence.

The studio also stressed that the network itself was not affected in any way.. And the page of the company’s CEO, Mo Sheikh, seems to have been hacked as well.

And on both it and the Aptos Foundation account, unknown persons were promoting an APT giveaway promotion.. In order to register for it, users were invited to click on a link to “verify their data.. There, the user had to fill out a small form and “claim the rights” to some of the APT tokens. Of course, it turned out to be a common tool to lure user data.

At the time of writing, it appears that the Aptos team has regained control of the page, at least in part.. The project “moved” from the Aptos Foundation to the Aptos Network, after which all publications on the old account were deleted.</nbsp;

How the attackers gained access to the page, as well as the number of possible victims is still unknown.
