Bitcoin had a very successful trading week, with a gain of over $6,000 and reaching its highest price in nearly a month at over $67,000. Many altcoins also experienced positive performance, including SOL, AVAX, BCH, LINK, and others, which saw double-digit gains.
Bitcoin remained steady around the $67,000 mark after briefly retracing to just above $60,000. The bulls successfully defended this psychological support level over the weekend and the asset started to climb on Monday, peaking at just over $63,000 before retracing to $61,200 on Tuesday. However, after the US CPI announcement for April, Bitcoin surged again, surpassing $66,500 for the first time since mid-April. Although there was a short retracement, the bulls remained strong in the past couple of days, pushing the cryptocurrency to nearly $67,500 before some minor adjustments. Currently, Bitcoin continues to trade around $67,000, with a market capitalization of $1.320 trillion and a dominance over altcoins of 51.7% on CG.
Among the top gainers on a weekly scale, SOL and LINK have taken the spotlight. SOL has soared by 17.5% to trade at a multi-week high of over $170, while LINK is up by 22% and stands close to $16.5. Avalanche, Bitcoin Cash, UNI, IMX, GRT, NEAR, and ICP also made the list with gains ranging from 9% to 14%. On the other hand, TON has experienced the largest decline among larger-cap altcoins, losing over 9% of its value in the past seven days. BNB and TRX are also slightly in the red.
Overall, the total crypto market cap has risen to $2.550 trillion on CG, indicating a weekly gain of over $150 billion.
