Liechtenstein to Introduce Bitcoin Payment Function for Public Services

Lichtenstein plans to introduce a bitcoin payment function for public services. This was announced by Prime Minister Daniel Risch.

In an interview with Handelsblatt he added that the provision of payment option with the help of BTC will be realized in the near future, but he did not name specific dates.

The government plans to accept deposits in BTC, later converting them into the national currency the Swiss franc.

A similar approach is used in the Swiss communities of Lugano and Zug. There, residents can use bitcoins to pay for public services.

In 2019, Liechtenstein was categorized as a country that has adopted special legislation on blockchain and cryptocurrency.

In 2020, the “Token and Trusted Technology Providers Act” (TVTG), also known as the Liechtenstein Blockchain Act, came into force.

It is responsible for creating one of the regulated environments. Since then, the number of organizations providing cryptocurrency services in Liechtenstein has grown, thanks to the optimal conditions for their business.

Cryptocurrencies are gradually becoming commonplace in society. In late August 2022, the Argentine province of Mendoza approved crypto payments to its tax coffers.

In September of the same year, WOG gas stations introduced payment via Binance Pay in Ukraine.

And in early 2023, it became known that students at the university in Dubai will be able to pay for education in cryptocurrency.
