Social network Threads was downloaded by 5 million users in 4 hours

  • One of the first was Mark Zuckerberg
  • He posted his Threads on the app

Meta officially launched the new Threads app today. It is a social network for short messages, similar to Twitter. But unlike its competitor, Threads is built on a decentralized infrastructure. They introduced ActivityPub, which another social network, Mastodon, already uses.

In its first four hours on the App Store, 5 million people downloaded the new app.. This news was shared by Mark Zuckerberg via his Threads account.

The new social network is closely related to Instagram – there you could place a “pre-order” and be notified when the app becomes available. The Instagram account will also display a link to a similar account in Threads.

The interface of the new social network is quite simple. You can like, comment, repost, and publish your own short posts.

What’s interesting is that Threads is promoted by celebrities like the Dalai Lama, DJ Slime, and Oprah Winfrey.</nbsp;

Whether Meta will succeed and whether Twitter will sink is yet to be revealed.. But the crypto-community already has complaints about Zuckerberg’s project. They accuse Threads of collecting personal data. Including the app collects health information, financial data, contacts, browser history, user location, and past purchases. This is the information they get from the ready-made Instagram user base.
