Square Enix, the well-known Japanese game publisher, has announced a new partnership with the Elixir platform, aimed at promoting the use of Web3 elements in gaming.
Elixir offers a unique combination of traditional PC games and Web3-based video games, having recently integrated a library of projects from the Epic Games Store onto its platform.
With Square Enix’s assistance, Elixir aims to further “blur the line” between Web2-era gaming projects and the rapidly emerging Web3 industry.
“The partnership with Elixir represents the next phase for Square Enix in tapping into the promising decentralized Web3 gaming space,” said Hidaki Uehera, Director of Business Development at Square Enix.
Although details of the partnership are scarce, Elixir CEO Carlos Roldarn has confirmed that it will significantly increase the adoption and sales of games that feature NFT and Web3 elements.
Square Enix has previously expressed a keen interest in utilizing blockchain, NFT, and Web3 technologies in its projects, making this partnership a logical next step for the company.
