Ministry of Finance of Russia: Let's export the mined cryptocurrency like gas!

Deputy Finance Minister Ivan Chebeskov announced a unique proposal that the department is considering: exporting cryptocurrency, similar to how hydrocarbon resources are exported. Chebeskov explained that there is already special legislation in place for gas exports, and the ministry has developed a concept to allow miners to sell their mined cryptocurrency as an export product. The legislative initiative is currently being formed.

“There is such an option – to use the export of cryptocurrency as a product of mining activity. There is special legislation for gas exports. Using his example, we developed a concept so that a miner could sell the product of everything he mined as an export product. The legislative initiative is already being formed,” the official said.

Chebeskov further clarified that both the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Russia are pushing to recognize cryptocurrency mining as a full-fledged sector of the economy. As part of an experiment, they plan to allow payments with cryptocurrencies in foreign economic activity.

In November, it was revealed that the Ministry of Energy intends to significantly increase electricity tariffs for large Siberian mining centers. The mining industry in the region has experienced exponential growth in recent years, leading to energy shortages for other consumers. In response, the Ministry of Energy is developing new regulations to address these concerns. They aim to raise electricity transmission tariffs for crypto farms in regions with energy shortages.
