Novosibirsk police liquidated a network of mining farms

Law enforcement authorities have uncovered multiple cryptocurrency mining farms in Novosibirsk, with over five thousand devices seized. Electric power engineers estimate that the illegal connections to power grids have caused approximately 200 million rubles in damage.

The mining farms were discovered in various locations around the city, including near treatment facilities in a forest on the outskirts of the Leninsky district, close to a landfill on the river bank, and in the private sector of the Kalininsky district. With the assistance of the Russian Guard, police officers conducted searches and successfully confiscated all the equipment used for mining virtual currencies.

One of the residents of Novosibirsk was arrested during the raids and is believed to be one of the owners of this network of mining farms. According to investigators, the individual colluded with a representative of a government agency to illegally connect the equipment to the power lines of the Regional Electric Networks company in exchange for monetary gain.

Criminal cases have been initiated, and authorities are actively working to identify all those involved in organizing the operations of these mining facilities.

Prior to this discovery, energy companies Rosseti-Yug, in collaboration with the police, had already shut down three mining farms operating in the Gorodishchensky district of the Volgograd region.
