London Stock Exchange partners with Global Futures and Options to launch UK’s first regulated bitcoin futures and options trading

The London Stock Exchange has joined forces with Global Futures and Options to introduce the UK’s premier controlled trading platform for bitcoin futures and options.

This groundbreaking collaboration between the LSE and the GFO-X trading platform has been announced via a joint statement, confirming that bitcoin futures and options will be serviced through LCH Digital AssetClear.

This segregated clearing service has been developed by the UK-based digital asset derivatives trading platform, GFO-X, and approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FSA).

Initially, this innovative trading service will only be available in the UK.

However, the Paris-based clearing arm of the LSE, DigitalAssetClear, will soon provide services for digital assets to EU countries.

It is anticipated that the launch of this service in the Eurozone will take place in the fourth quarter of this year, after receiving approval from EU regulators.

According to Frank Soussan, head of LCH DigitalAssetClear, “Bitcoin futures and options are a fast-growing asset class that is attracting interest from institutional market participants looking for safe access to capital investment in a regulated environment they are familiar with.”

With open interest in bitcoin options trading exceeding $10.3 billion, as reported by Glassnode, it is clear that there is a significant demand for this type of trading platform.

In summary, this exciting partnership between the London Stock Exchange and Global Futures and Options is set to revolutionize the world of digital asset trading, providing institutional investors with a safe and regulated environment in which to invest their capital.
