“The game has passed Apple’s review and is now available! This is the first time Apple has agreed to make an NFT purchased on the side usable in the App Store,” the developers wrote.
Negotiations with Apple went on for about a year, Sky Mavis claimed. Immediately after the announcement, the Axie Infinity (AXS) token appreciated more than 20%.
The game was previously available in a limited number of regions on the Google Play store and via Mavis Hub.
Axie Infinity has long worked to recover from last year’s hack and $625 million loss by rebuilding the core systems of its Ronin network, an NFT-based Ethereum sidechain for games.
Last September, Sky Mavis announced an agreement with Google Cloud to continue working on decentralizing Ronin.
A division of Google will launch a validation node on Ronin to help protect the network and improve transaction processing.
