Canada to Track Sheep Using Blockchain Technology, Revolutionizing the Industry

The Canadian Sheep Federation and SheepChain have explored blockchain applications for the sheep industry.

Canada will be the first country to use blockchain to track sheep, according to the project.

SheepTrace’s research has proven that with blockchain, any interested party can trace the chain of agricultural products from pasture to point of sale.

To digitally certify livestock data, SheepChain specialists have deployed a record-keeping system on an Ethereum blockchain that captures genetic scores, fattening techniques, and hormone use and disease history.

“The world is constantly trying to find a solution to determine the authentic origin of products.

However, none of them can fully reflect the entire supply chain.

The use of blockchain has solved this problem and made it possible to digitally track each individual animal from its birth to its processing cycle,”

SheepTrace said.By 2025, 20% of the largest food manufacturers will use blockchain technology to track their supply chains, according to a study by Gartner.
