Alby Unveils Alby Go, a Revolutionary Mobile App for Bitcoin Lightning Payments
Alby, the leading innovator in the Bitcoin Lightning Network space, has just announced the launch of their highly anticipated mobile application, Alby Go. Available for both iOS and Android devices, Alby Go allows users to make self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning payments directly from their mobile devices.
The launch of Alby Go comes after numerous requests from the Bitcoin community for a mobile app version of Alby’s Lightning network. Alby took to Twitter to share the exciting news, writing, “ALBY MOBILE WEN? guys, when will you release an app? i want wallet from Alby on myPhone. You can stop asking – Alby mobile is here!”
With Alby Go, users can connect their mobile app to various Lightning nodes and wallets, including Alby Hub, Umbrel, Start9, LifPay, and CoinOS. The app seamlessly integrates with Alby Hub, an open-source wallet developed by Alby, allowing users to access and use Lightning nodes across multiple devices. Additionally, Alby Go provides a user-friendly interface for Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC)-enabled Lightning wallets.
Alby co-founder, Alby Michael Bumann, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of Alby Go, stating, “Alby Go is our next step in making Bitcoin accessible everywhere, now bringing it to users’ pockets. With the NWC messaging protocol, we enable seamless utilization of multiple nodes and wallets in a lightweight app.”
Alongside Lightning payments, Alby Go offers several other convenient features. The app includes a contact list, enabling users to store Lightning addresses of frequent contacts for quick and hassle-free transactions. Additionally, Alby Go provides currency conversion and customizable dark/light theme settings for a personalized user experience.
Currently in version 1.5, Alby Go is open to user feedback and suggestions for future improvements. The app’s code is also open-source, encouraging community reviews and contributions.
