- March through November 2022. Cronje allegedly did not work at the Phantom Foundation.
- This period he called “public distance.”
DeFi developer Andre Cronje officially confirmed in an interview with The Block that he is returning to Phantom. He added, however, that he never left the company.
“My ouster from Fantom was mostly due to public opinion. At the time, I faced criticism from the press and thought it could have a negative impact on the reputation of the fund.”
In early March 2022, it was announced that the cryptocurrency entrepreneur was leaving Phantom. Rumors surfaced in November that the developer was returning to the project, but no official information has been released.
Cronje said he has been actively working at Phantom almost full-time since 2019.
“You can talk to anyone in the organization, and everyone knows that I work. My duties remain the same as before, I have been handling day-to-day business,” he added.
The developer also said Phantom Foundation CEO Michael Kong convinced him to return to public activity after months of silence. Cronje clarified that it’s not about leaving and returning, but simply distancing himself publicly, which he believes is better for the project.
By the way, Cronje has been called the “father of DeFi” and the man who changed the sector. You can read more about it in our article.
