Argentine authorities have launched an investigation into Worldcoin’s activities

The Argentine Agency for Public Information (AAIP) has launched an investigation into the global crypto project Worldcoin. This is stated on the regulator’s website.

The agency said it wanted to examine the security measures put in place to protect the privacy of app users.

“The investigation will scrutinize the processes and practices for collecting, storing and using personal data,” AAIP said.

Citizens have the right to have clear, accessible information regarding the purpose, uses and purposes for which their data is collected and processed.

“Cases like this make it clear that there is a need to strengthen the current legal framework regarding the protection of personal data, which has been raised repeatedly by AAIP in various national and international forums,” officials explained.

A week after Worldcoin’s launch, the crypto project’s community activity has skyrocketed. Within seven days of launch, the number of weekly active World App users tripled and the number of weekly accounts created more than tenfold.

Meanwhile, Kenyan police raided Worldcoin’s Nairobi office and seized company documents, sending them to the country’s Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters for further verification.
