Arkham found dozens of wallets with millions of dollars hanging on blockchain bridges

  • Arkham has identified dozens of accounts whose assets are stuck in various blockchain bridges.
  • Among the affected addresses are wallets associated with the Coinbase exchange and various figures in the cryptosphere.
  • Millions of dollars were “forgotten” for periods ranging from several months to more than two years.

The Arkham Intelligence analytical platform has identified a significant number of crypto wallets, funds from which are stuck in various DeFi bridges. We are talking about millions of dollars.

According to experts, the owners of dozens of accounts “forgot” about six/seven-digit sums. These assets are stuck in decentralized blockchain bridges and remain unclaimed for a long time.

Among the numerous wallets there are addresses associated with famous personalities and large companies.

For example, one of the cases relates to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who sent 50 ETH to one of the users. The recipient left funds on the Optimism Bridge. At the same time, the total volume of frozen assets associated with this address reaches $1 million, Arkham said.

Another wallet indicates the involvement of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. The value of the stranded assets is estimated at $75,000. Analysts believe that the company intended to withdraw funds through the USDC stablecoin.

Representatives of the platform emphasized that many assets were “forgotten” for a long period of time. Thus, Bofur Capital forgot about 27 BTC worth $1.8 million, which were stored on the bridge for more than two years.

Similarly, a wallet associated with thomasg.eth left $800,000 unclaimed, which is listed on Arbitrum Bridge. They have been on the bridge for more than one year and ten months.

The Arkham team believes that this situation occurs due to the fact that traders do not receive reminders to receive funds manually. Thus, assets get stuck in native bridges, experts say.

Representatives of the platform notified people and companies whose assets they found in a “frozen” state.

Let us remind you that we wrote that Arkham analysts tracked the Bitcoin assets of Tesla and SpaceX for $1.3 billion.
