Bankruptcy Trustee Investigated for Cryptocurrency Bribery in Tatarstan

Emil Khalimov, a bankruptcy trustee from Tatarstan, is under criminal investigation for extorting a bribe, part of which he received in cryptocurrencies.

Khalimov extorted a bribe of 2 million rubles from the founder of one of the companies where he was in bankruptcy proceedings.

During a meeting in a cafe on the third floor in the shopping complex “Tandem” the founder of the firm transferred to Halimov part of the funds in the cryptocurrency wallet, but the exact amount is still unknown.

Immediately after that, the economic police officers detained the extortionist.

Khalimov himself admits guilt only partially, and his lawyer claims provocation on the part of the former founder of the bankrupt firm.

Nevertheless, the Privolzhsky Court of Kazan ruled that the bankruptcy trustee should be under house arrest until June 17.

Khalimov tried to appeal against the arrest, but the Supreme Court of Tatarstan upheld the verdict.
