Bill Gates: AI can make the world a fairer place

  • Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, has made a unique forecast for the AI sector in 2024.
  • He anticipates that the industry will continue to mature and be widely adopted in the United States within the next 18 to 24 months.
  • Gates sees immense potential in using AI technology in the field of medicine and other areas.

Bill Gates, renowned billionaire and co-founder of Microsoft, has predicted further advancements in artificial intelligence for the year 2024. According to Gates, AI has the potential to create a more equitable world.

Gates believes that artificial intelligence will play a crucial role in bridging the innovation gap between economically disadvantaged and affluent regions, thus leveling the playing field.

The billionaire entrepreneur envisions the potential of AI in the development of new drugs, as this technology has the capacity to process vast amounts of data. Gates emphasizes the importance of adapting AI to be user-friendly for everyday individuals.

“I estimate that we are 18 to 24 months away from significant levels of AI use by the public in the United States. For African countries, I expect to see the same level of adoption in about three years,” stated Gates.

Despite his optimism, Gates also acknowledged some obstacles that may impede AI projects. These include ensuring stable access to computing power and scaling without compromising quality.

In early 2023, Bill Gates declared the dawn of the AI era, comparing its significance to that of the Internet and mobile phones. He also participated in an AI regulation summit in September, which we extensively covered in a separate article.

It is worth noting that in August, Microsoft introduced a new AI training method and formed a coalition with IBM and MITER to advance post-quantum cryptography.
