Binance Does Not Comply With All Israeli Military Requests, Firm’s Financial Crime Chief Says

Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, has stated that it does not blindly comply with all requests from the Israeli military to freeze cryptocurrency wallets belonging to Palestinians and others. Nils Anderson Röed, Binance’s global head of financial investigations, emphasized the company’s commitment to conducting independent research to verify the legitimacy of such requests. He explained that Binance’s team runs parallel open-source intelligence research to cross-check information provided by governments like Israel. This approach ensures that disagreements about what constitutes illicit activity can be addressed appropriately. Röed also highlighted the importance of consulting with legal experts and law enforcement bodies to ensure compliance with international law and protection of users’ rights. Binance has allocated additional resources to enhance its investigations in sensitive regions like the Middle East, with a focus on thorough checks in these high-profile cases.
