Binance has hired four lawyers from Milbank LLP.. One of them is George Canellos, known behind his back as “The Terminator in the Law World.. And his long record shows it.
The man used to work as chief of the Southern District’s Major Crimes Unit of the New York District Attorney’s Office. Then he was head of the New York Securities and Exchange Commission and co-director of the law enforcement division of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Kanellos has worked for both the SEC and the U.S. Department of Justice. This is exactly what the Terminator of the legal community looks like.”
Canellos also served as co-chair of the RMBS group on the Interagency Task Force on Financial Fraud. This group was created by Barack Obama in 2009.
The future of the entire crypto industry (or at least its immediate prospects) depends on the dispute with the SEC. This has already been hinted at by prosecutor John Reed-Stark, who is involved in the. DOJ prosecutor says he will seek jail time for those found guilty of Binance crimes. So it is not surprising that the exchange decided not to save on lawyers. The company hopes Canellos’ extensive experience and influence will help it stand up for its rights.
In the meantime, freezing Binance.US assets threatens to liquidate the exchange, the company said.
