Bitcoin supporter Nayib Bukele wins presidential election in El Salvador again

  • Nayib Bukele, a strong advocate of Bitcoin, has been re-elected as the President of El Salvador.
  • In the recent elections, Bukele won with an overwhelming majority, securing more than 85% of the popular vote.
  • Furthermore, 58 out of the 60 assembly members also voted in favor of Bukele.

Once again, Nayib Bukele, a vocal supporter of Bitcoin, emerges as the winner of the presidential election in El Salvador. He made the announcement through his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).

It is worth noting that, as reported by local media, Nayib Bukele received 87% of the total votes.

Additionally, it should be recalled that in early February of 2024, Vice President Felix Ulloa stated that El Salvador has no plans to abandon Bitcoin as legal tender.

Earlier, we reported that in 2023, 12% of the population in El Salvador had used Bitcoin for transactions, and on January 9, 2024, the country earned $15.4 million in unrealized profits due to the surge in the value of the first cryptocurrency.
