Businessman’s legal representative confirms complaint against Montenegro court decision

The businessman’s legal representative has confirmed that a complaint has been filed against the recent decision made by the court in Montenegro.

The court ruled to extend the custody of Terraform Labs’ founder, Do Kwon, for an additional 30 days. Do Kwon was initially arrested after attempting to leave Montenegro using counterfeit documents.

Subsequently, the businessman appealed to prolong his custody. The court’s decision was reached following his capture at the Podgorica airport while trying to board a flight to Dubai with falsified documents.

The Minister of the Interior, Filip Adzic, stated that the authorities apprehended one of the most wanted fugitives in Podgorica.

According to Montenegro’s legal framework, a suspect can be held in custody for up to 72 hours, but the court decided to extend Do Kwon’s custody due to the high possibility of escape.

The court clarified that Do Kwon was a foreign national, and his identity could not be positively verified. Before his arrest, it was suspected that the Terra project’s creator, which collapsed in 2022, was evading justice in Serbia.
