Cardano’s Hoskinson Names Blockchain Use Cases for AI

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson recently gave a keynote speech highlighting the various use cases for combining artificial intelligence (AI) with blockchain technology. Hoskinson identified vehicle identity and royalty management as two main areas where this integration could be beneficial. He also mentioned that the healthcare industry could benefit from the combination of AI and blockchain, particularly in making electronic health record systems more efficient.

However, Hoskinson acknowledged that there are challenges to overcome in merging AI and blockchain. Governance issues, such as data collection and privacy concerns, are major obstacles. AI relies heavily on vast computational resources for data processing, which can be difficult to manage. Tokenization could potentially address some of these challenges.

Technical incompatibility and the first-mover problem are also hindrances to integrating AI and blockchain. However, complementary solutions may emerge to overcome these obstacles, according to Input Output CTO Romain Pellerin.

The idea of combining AI and blockchain is not new, as it has been suggested for various applications. For example, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian proposed using blockchain to verify the authenticity of AI-generated pictures. Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer of Ledger, described blockchain and AI as two sides of the same coin.

In previous remarks, Hoskinson also expressed concerns about AI censorship resulting from alignment training.
