Clients of the Beribit crypto exchange have been trying to get their funds back for three days

In the aftermath of last week, customers of the cryptocurrency exchange Berybit in Moscow have been eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of their obligations. Promised a return of funds by May 2, 2024, these clients have grown increasingly frustrated.

Despite the passage of three days, some disgruntled investors have chosen to remain at the exchange office within the Federation Tower of the Moscow City complex, hoping that payments will soon be made. Faced with aggression, security personnel at the Beribit office have resorted to threatening with pepper spray as they attempt to apprehend and remove individuals seeking an explanation regarding the unblocking of their accounts. The impasse began on April 27, with victims congregating near the second Beribit office on April 28 to engage with management.

“People are here, standing and waiting. This has been dragging on for several days now… The funds simply vanished in an instant, without any prior warning,” laments one of the affected clients.

Contrary to reports, those gathered near the second Beribit office deny that several dozen of them have already received 32 million rubles. According to these depositors, only a few individuals managed to receive partial funds, and obtaining clear explanations from the support staff proved futile.

Moscow police have confirmed that they are currently conducting an investigation, prompted by the complaints of five exchange clients. Based on the findings of this investigation, a decision will be made regarding potential actions to be taken, or whether any action should be pursued at all.

On March 29, a search occurred at Beribit’s Moscow office, which may have been related to the search for cryptocurrency transactions linked to suspects involved in the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall entertainment complex near Moscow on March 22, 2024.
