Coin Center senior staff to step down at end of year

Crypto think tank Coin Center has announced changes to its senior staff, with executive director Jerry Brito and senior policy counsel Robin Weisman stepping down from their respective positions at the end of the year. However, both will continue to serve on the board of directors. Peter Van Valkenburgh, the current director of research, will take over as the new executive director starting on January 1, with Landon Zinda becoming the policy director. Brito expressed pride in Coin Center’s accomplishments over the past decade and highlighted the initial uncertainty surrounding the acceptance of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies by governments. Coin Center recently won an appeal to re-open a lawsuit against the US Treasury Department and IRS over an amendment to the tax code involving digital assets. The advocacy group also filed amicus briefs in support of Tornado Cash and its founder in a government lawsuit. Weisman expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the building of Coin Center.
