Elon Musk Adds Laser Eyes to His X Profile, Crypto Leaders Join In

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has changed his X profile picture to feature the popular laser eyes symbolism associated with Bitcoin, causing a stir within the cryptocurrency community. The laser eye meme, which first emerged in the Mass Effect 2 game in 2010, has since been adopted as a symbol of empowerment by the crypto community.

Musk’s decision to sport the laser eye profile picture comes as President Joe Biden reportedly announces the end of his re-election campaign. Given that the crypto community predominantly favors former President Donald Trump, this development is seen as a positive sign for Trump potentially returning to office. Trump has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s approach to crypto regulation and has shown support for Bitcoin and crypto miners, drawing him closer to the crypto community.

By changing his profile picture, Musk not only aligns himself with the laser eye trend but also expresses his belief in a United States that prioritizes individual freedom and merit. The billionaire has frequently made headlines in the crypto space, particularly due to his support of Dogecoin. Laser eyes have become a common symbol within the crypto sphere, representing support for Bitcoin.

Interestingly, like Trump, Musk is rumored to make an appearance at the 2024 Bitcoin Conference and has recently arrived in Tennessee, the hosting city for the event. Coinciding with his arrival, Musk changed his profile picture to feature the laser eyes.

Musk’s profile picture update has sparked a larger trend within the crypto-friendly American figures. Marc Andreessen, co-founder of Netscape and Andreessen Horowitz, joined the movement by posting an image of an anime character with laser eyes and the American flag on X. He even changed his profile picture to reflect this new image. Ryan Selkis, the founder of Messari, a crypto research firm, also updated his profile picture to showcase the laser eye theme.

This action from Musk goes beyond mere aesthetics, as he previously made a similar move when he changed his display picture to an anime woman with glowing red eyes. Coincidentally, this shift occurred a few weeks before Bitcoin reached its all-time high of $73,750 on March 14.
