Elon Musk Drops Lawsuit Against OpenAI

In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk has decided to withdraw his lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman. The lawsuit, which alleged that the company had strayed from its original mission of prioritizing humanity, was dropped just before a California judge was scheduled to hear OpenAI’s motion to dismiss it.

Musk, who was a co-founder of OpenAI and played a prominent role in its early days, had accused the company of becoming a subsidiary of Microsoft and thus compromising its non-profit status. However, OpenAI countered these claims by stating that Musk had actually endorsed the company’s transition to a for-profit model and had even attracted significant investment from reputable sources.

Interestingly, Musk recently revealed that he has launched a new AI company called xAI, which successfully raised $6 billion in a Series B funding round – the largest amount raised so far. Alongside this announcement, Musk also introduced a chatbot named Grok.

While Musk has chosen to drop his legal complaint against OpenAI, he has remained tight-lipped about the specific reason behind this decision, suggesting that more information may come to light in the future. However, he did make comments indicating that he may consider excluding the use of Apple Inc. devices across his companies if OpenAI’s AI software were to be integrated into Apple’s operating system, citing concerns about safety.
