Ethereum developers rolled out a list of changes in the Dencun update

  • It will include five EIPs
  • The upgrade is based on a “proto-dunksharing” feature
  • It will allow more data to be added to blocks
  • The remaining changes are primarily aimed at smart contracts

Ethereum Foundation is actively preparing for a major new update – Dencun. It is already known that it will include five important proposals (EIP), one of which is “proto-dunksharding”. The upgrade is promised to roll out by the end of this year.

Why “Dencun”?

As with Shapella, the name of this package has two parts – Cancun and Deneb.. The first will affect the execution level, the second the consensus.

What will be included in the update?</nbsp;

The upgrade is based on EIP-4844, the same “proto-dunksharding”. This change is aimed at scaling. In fact, this is a kind of rollup that will allow you to add more data to the blocks. Here you can find a more complete description from the developers.</nbsp;

The following changes will also be in Dencun:

  • EIP-1153, a change aimed at reducing storage over the network;
  • EIP-4788, will significantly improve the bridging and stacking pool infrastructure;
  • EIP-5656, aimed at changing the EVM code;
  • EIP-6780, which removes code that allows smart contracts.</nbsp;

The final Dencun build may differ from the above. Developers promise to release more details in the coming months.
