Ethereum Name Service (ENS) Ends Q2 with Decline in Name Registrations

Ethereum Name Service (ENS) experienced a decline in domain registrations during the second quarter of the year. Despite lower fees for transactions and the use of Ether (ETH) for purchases, interest in registering .eth domain names remained low. On-chain data showed a significant decrease in .eth registrations, with a 30% decline in June compared to the previous month and a 58% decrease from the peak in April. Additionally, primary ENS name registrations reached a year-to-date low at the end of June, with a 39% decline compared to the previous month and a 55% decline since the beginning of the year. The decline in open interest for ENS derivatives also suggests bearish sentiment, as traders are closing their positions without opening new ones. If this trend continues, the price of ENS may fall further. However, if there is a resurgence in buying activity, the bearish projection may be invalidated and the price could rise.
