Founder of Terraform Labs Granted Release from Custody by Montenegro Court

The Court of Montenegro allowed the release from custody of the founder of Terraform Labs, whom the country’s authorities accused of forgery.
In addition to Do Kwon, the company’s former chief financial officer Han Chang-Joon will also be released on 400,000 euros bail.
The detainees have promised that if they pay the bail they will not go into hiding until the end of the criminal proceedings, will regularly  respond to subpoenas and remain available at the address indicated by a lawyer.

The prosecution objected to the proposal, pointing out that the proposed amount does not guarantee the presence of the defendants, and that the defendants have no interest in staying on the territory of Montenegro.

The prosecution has the right to appeal the court decision within three days. Do Kwon previously pleaded not guilty to using fake Belgian and Costa Rican passports;

Kwon hid from Interpol for months before he was arrested at the airport in the Montenegrin capital on March 23. Law enforcers say the Korean businessman tried to travel on a rented private plane with a fake passport.

The U.S. and South Korea are pressing multiple fraud charges against Do Kwon for his alleged role in the Terra debacle last spring.

In March 2023, it was revealed that the businessman set up a company in Serbia for less than $1, weeks after Interpol put him on an international wanted list.
