France Welcomes Cryptocurrency Companies Amidst Regulatory Uncertainty

Cryptocurrency companies that move away from the uncertainty of U.S. regulation will be welcomed in France, local officials said.

“In France, we are proud to be pioneers of the crypto-asset industry,” said Benoît de Juvigny, secretary general of the Financial Markets Authority (AMF).

74 companies, including exchanges Binance and Bitstamp, have already received registration in France. Authorities expect the number of companies to grow to 100.

Finance ministers from the 27 European Union member states on Tuesday unanimously supported a bill to regulate cryptocurrencies (MiCA) and amendments to a series of rules and directives for the new legislation.

According to an official statement released by the European Council, the new law brings cryptocurrencies into “a single, hormonized regulatory framework.”

The AMF recently said it is considering accelerated licensing of cryptocurrency operators and moving from national regulation to MiCA rules.

The Office plans to bring in line with the European law on the necessary reserves, conflict of interest, storage of documents for cryptocurrency companies licensing their activities in France.

Earlier, the French Senate Committee on Economic Affairs approved an amendment to current legislation allowing media personalities to advertise cryptocurrency assets on social networks.
