GDA opens 3 eco-friendly bitcoin mining data centers in the US

  • Genesis Digital Assets (GDA) has built 3 data centers in South Carolina.
  • The branches have a combined capacity of 33 MW.
  • GDA adheres to the principles of green mining.

GDA are expanding their operations in the US. The company has opened three data centers in South Carolina, writes Bitcoin Magazine.

The opening of the new branches is part of a program to strengthen GDA’s position in the United States. Today, the facility’s capacity accounts for 2% of the bitcoin network’s total hashrate.

In February 2023, the first 18MW mining center began operations near Anderson, South Carolina, USA. Later, two more facilities were launched with a total capacity of 15 MW.

The choice of South Carolina as a location for the construction of mining centers is not accidental. The state is renowned for its good ecology and a wide range of alternative sources. For example, the Pacole facility is located 3 miles from two hydroelectric plants operated by Lockhart Power, a clean energy provider in the region.

The Anderson data center is equipped with safe Hitachi dry-type distribution transformers. They will be able to strengthen the local power grid by returning excess power if the need arises.

“The opening of the new branches is fully in line with our commitment to green mining development. Our goal is to become industry leaders and show the world that bitcoin mining is in line with environmental, social and corporate governance,” said Andrew Kim, CEO of GDA.

Remember, Republican U.S. presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy promised to cut taxes for mining firms.
