Google Cloud announced the scaling of the Bitcoin Lightning network

  • This is done through a partnership with provider Voltage
  • Google Cloud will scale hosting for such payments
  • The technology will affect millions of users in more than 50 countries

Voltage (provider of Lightning as a Service, LaaS) has partnered with Google Cloud. They will be expanding Bitcoin and Lightning node hosting around the world. The global goal of the project will be to revolutionize remittances and expand the customer base.

The Voltage company has been operating since 2020. It offers companies solutions based on the Lightning Network. These tools make it easy to transfer money and have virtually zero fees.

Lightning payment through Voltage is especially useful for cross-border payments. Unlike bank transfers, the provider serves on weekends and around the clock. At the same time they provide instant transfers. LaaS will also be useful in micro-payments.

From now on, Voltage will use Google Cloud’s extensive network infrastructure. This will allow them to expand geographically to more than 50 countries. They will initially launch operations in Iowa, the Netherlands, and Singapore, but will soon conduct deployments across the planet. Powerful support for Google Cloud will increase the load on Bitcoin infrastructure.
