Government prosecutors in the case against former FTX executive Nishad Singh are defending him, stating that he provided “substantial assistance” and “exemplary cooperation” in their investigations into FTX. The prosecutors submitted a document on Oct. 23, stating that Singh approached his cooperation with remorse and eagerness to assist. They mentioned that Singh aided in understanding how FTX’s code allowed for the illegal use of customer funds and provided detailed information on transactions involving stolen money by Sam Bankman-Fried. Furthermore, Singh brought to the government’s attention criminal conduct related to a campaign finance scheme and instances of financial manipulation that the government was not aware of. Singh pled guilty to six criminal charges in Feb. 2023 and will be sentenced later this month. His lawyers have requested the judge to spare him prison time. Alongside Singh, FTX’s former chief technology officer, Gary Wang, is also awaiting sentencing. Bankman-Fried and the former CEO of Alameda Research, Caroline Ellison, have already been sentenced, while FTX’s CEO, Ryan Salame, recently began serving a prison sentence.
