Institutional Investors Show ‘Diamond Hands’ as Spot Bitcoin ETF Adoption Grows in Q2, Reports Bitwise CIO

Institutional investors are showing resilience and commitment to Bitcoin ETFs, according to a report by Bitwise CIO, Matt Hougan. Despite the downturn in Bitcoin prices during Q2, there was a 30% increase in the number of institutional holders of spot Bitcoin ETFs. This increase demonstrates the continued growth and interest from institutions in the cryptocurrency market. Furthermore, the data reveals that the majority of institutional investors maintained or increased their positions in Q2, dispelling concerns of panic selling. Hedge funds continue to dominate the investor base, although there is a growing diversity with the inclusion of advisors, family offices, and select institutional investors. Hougan sees this diversity as a positive sign of wider institutional acceptance and hopes to see wealth managers and pension funds increase their investments in Bitcoin ETFs. However, caution is advised when considering Assets Under Management (AUM) reports, as some large investors had not yet filed their reports at the time of the analysis. Overall, the report highlights the growing interest and confidence in Bitcoin ETFs among institutional investors.
