Kraken Launches Restaking on Ethereum-Based Protocol EigenLayer

Kraken has introduced a new feature that allows its customers to restake their already-staked ETH on the Ethereum network and earn additional rewards through the decentralized finance protocol EigenLayer. The goal of this feature is to provide broader access to yield-bearing opportunities on-chain, making restaking more accessible to a wider range of clients. Kraken subsidiary Staked, an EigenLayer operator, has been selected as the validator for ETH restaked. Users who participate in restaking can choose to hold their rewards on Kraken or trade them for fiat or other cryptocurrencies. This move by Kraken comes at a time when restaking is experiencing significant growth, with the total value locked in liquid restaking tokens increasing by over 3000% this year. Restaking allows users to enhance the utility of their staked assets by securing various decentralized platforms and earning additional rewards. Kraken aims to simplify this process and reduce entry barriers for investors. However, the offering is currently not available to customers in the U.S. and other jurisdictions where geographic restrictions apply.
