KuCoin identifies possible culprit behind Twitter hack and crypto theft

KuCoin, a cryptocurrency exchange, recently revealed that it has reason to believe that one of its regular customers may be responsible for the hacking of the exchange’s Twitter account and the subsequent theft of cryptocurrency assets.

KuCoin conducted an internal audit of the exchange after a user under the username @CoinGurruu reported the discovery of a suspicious crypto wallet on Twitter.

The exchange confirmed that the wallet address does indeed belong to one of its users but has not yet taken any action against the account owner without notification from law enforcement agencies.

The CEO of KuCoin, Johnny Lyu, stated that the company plans to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and will take appropriate action in accordance with user agreements and the laws of the Seychelles.

The wallet address in question has been marked as a fake phishing wallet by the Etherscan blockchain explorer.

This incident led to the loss of more than $22,000 worth of users’ crypto assets.
