Mastercard and Scale, a fintech company, have joined forces to support the deployment of fintech firms in Africa and the Middle East. This partnership aims to bridge the digital gap by enabling telcos, fintech firms, aggregators, and payment service providers to launch new products and services without facing common barriers to entry. Amnah Ajmal, Executive Vice President of Market Development at Mastercard, praised the collaboration, stating that it brings them closer to their goal of narrowing the digital divide and improving access to financial services. As part of this partnership, Mastercard and Scale will assist fintech firms in obtaining bank identification number (BIN) sponsorships, providing a streamlined way for these businesses to enter the card market. Additionally, they will work together to build sustainable unit economics and design and commercialize card and payment programs. Miranda Perumal, CEO at Scale, highlighted that this collaboration offers a single point of contact and simplifies the complexities of seeking BIN sponsors and other payment solution providers. This combined ecosystem service allows fintech players to focus on their core business, while Scale streamlines processes, enables payments, and supports program growth to generate revenues faster. The goal of this collaboration is to help partners expand their portfolios and increase profitability.
