No Other Crypto ETFs Planned in the Near Future: BlackRock

BlackRock’s senior exchange-traded fund executive, Samara Cohen, has stated that only Bitcoin and Ethereum are expected to be traded through ETFs in the foreseeable future. Speaking with Bloomberg TV, Cohen explained that while Bitcoin and Ethereum meet the investment giant’s criteria for ETFs, no other digital asset currently meets the same standards. Cohen cited a lack of investor appetite for other currency ETFs, including Solana, as a reason for this. She emphasized that investability and client feedback are key factors in determining the suitability of an asset for an ETF. Although there has been speculation about the next potential asset for ETF trading following the successful launch of Ethereum ETFs, there are no immediate plans for a Solana ETF due to the absence of Solana CME futures. Despite being viewed as a faster and cheaper alternative to Ethereum, Solana currently represents around 3% of the total crypto market value, with a market capitalization of $82 billion according to CoinGecko data.
