According to law enforcement authorities in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a 53-year-old resident of Norilsk, employed in a gas production company, had been friends with a bank manager for several years.
The bank employee, who had access to information about the victim’s financial savings, suggested to her friend that they could make money by investing in cryptocurrency. She promised the victim a reliable weekly income of 22,000 rubles.
Subsequently, the victim invested 6.7 million rubles, and from October 2022 to May 2023, she received actual income amounting to 1.4 million rubles.
In the spring of 2023, the Norilsk resident decided to withdraw the principal funds, but her friend persuaded her to wait until September. After that, the bank employee ceased all communication, claiming to be ill.
The victim contacted the bank, only to discover that the funds were being directed to a fraudulent cryptocurrency exchange, and she was not the only victim of these scammers.
Previously, it was reported that a resident of Minsk lost over $20,000 while investing in cryptocurrencies.
