  • Nvidia and FPT have announced their partnership to establish a manufacturing facility for AI chips in Vietnam.
  • The project will receive a $200 million investment from FPT.
  • Nvidia will contribute its expertise in artificial intelligence technologies to the collaboration.

According to a joint statement released on April 23, 2024, Nvidia and Vietnamese company FPT have joined forces to build a plant dedicated to the production of AI chips. The main objective of this collaboration is to create a comprehensive platform for the development of artificial intelligence and cloud computing in Vietnam. It aims to provide infrastructure for GPUs and other AI products, attract specialists, and offer industry expertise to clients in the region.

The press release mentions that FPT plans to invest $200 million to kickstart production. Nvidia, on the other hand, will bring in its latest AI technologies, including the creation of Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

The aim of FPT is to transform Vietnam into a global hub for artificial intelligence. Additionally, the company plans to introduce AI applications in countries like Japan, Korea, and other Asian nations.

Nvidia’s vice president of AI development, Keith Strier, emphasized that artificial intelligence has the potential to enhance lives and economies by accelerating innovation in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing.

The plant will offer FPT’s enterprise customers cloud services to enhance application capabilities and speed, along with comprehensive AI-powered generative services, according to the statement.

The statement also mentions that Nvidia’s programs will be integrated into educational activities and training programs across Vietnam. At least 30,000 students are expected to participate in this endeavor in the near future.

According to Nvidia’s financial report for 2023, the company’s total revenue increased by 126% year-over-year, reaching $60.9 billion.

Prior to a dedicated conference on artificial intelligence held by Nvidia in March 2024, some AI tokens experienced a 25% growth.
