What is known about this fight as of this writing?

In late June 2023, Ilon Musk said he was ready to face Zuckerberg “in the cage”. Meta’s CEO responded by suggesting that his rival “send a geolocation,” as noted by Verge editor Alex Heath.

In comments to TMZSports, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White noted that both sides of the dispute are more than serious.

In early July 2023, the NYT, citing its sources, said that negotiations to make the fight happen were nearly complete.

But later that month, Reuters, citing a recording of internal talks between Meta executives, noted that the chances of an actual fight were slim.

On Aug. 6, Ilon Musk reignited audience interest in the event by announcing that the fight would be broadcast on the X platform. With all profits going to help veterans.

In response, Zuckerberg suggested a date for the bout – Aug. 26. But Musk hasn’t commented on it in any way. As a result, CEO Meta said the X owner is not serious and it’s time for both of them to move on.

The feud between the two heads of tech companies

The rivalry between Musk and Zuckerberg began back in 2014, as the NYT noted. The Tesla CEO has publicly criticized Meta’s commercial products and also expressed doubts about the competence of the company’s CEO.

The feud between the two had been going on for some time, but after Musk’s purchase of the social network Twitter, the conflict only escalated. As a result, the platform owner threatened Zuckerberg with a plagiarism lawsuit following the release of the Threads app.

Other high-profile bets on Polymarket

It’s not the first time users of the platform have bet on high-profile events. Earlier, they organized a totalizoator on whether the wreckage of the Titan bathyscaphe could be found, and whether nuclear war happened.
