Self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto faces contempt of court charges

Self-proclaimed Satoshi Nakamoto, Craig Wright, is facing contempt of court charges in the UK. This comes after Wright filed a £911 million lawsuit against Square Up Europe Limited, which is owned by Jack Dorsey’s Block. The High Court of England and Wales previously found Wright’s claims to be false in a litigation with Bitcoin core developers. The Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), of which Block is a member, took legal action to prevent Wright from suing Bitcoin developers in the future. COPA now argues that Wright’s lawsuit against Block violates this injunction. Wright attended the court hearing without legal representation and requested to attend virtually from Singapore due to his autism. The judge requested further evidence of his condition. The judge in a previous case also stated that Wright lied extensively and falsified documents to support his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright’s website now features a legal notice denying his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto. The situation raises legal implications for individuals claiming to be Satoshi and highlights the potential consequences of misleading claims about the origin of Bitcoin.
