WIF experienced a remarkable price surge of over 27%, outperforming its closest competitor EGLD, which only saw a 17% increase. Dogwifhat’s (WIF) meteoric rise has elevated its market cap to over $2 billion, positioning it to surpass Arbitrum (ARB) in terms of market capitalization. CoinGecko reports that WIF is closing the gap with a 27% surge, while ARB, also experiencing a surge today, currently holds a market cap of $2.039 billion.
Notably, other major meme coins are exhibiting similar performance. Shiba Inu (SHIB), for instance, has witnessed a 14% increase and has reclaimed its place in the top 15 cryptocurrencies by market cap. Short sellers in the crypto market have been met with merciless consequences, as CoinGlass data reveals that over 75% of the $184 million in liquidations within the last 24 hours were attributed to short positions.
Notably, Solana meme coins have displayed the strongest performance over the past day. Alongside the impressive WIF rally, this success can be primarily attributed to the astounding performance of low-cap coins. POPCAT, for example, experienced a 27% surge, replacing Cat in Dogs World (MEW) as the largest Solana-based cat coin. Additionally, relatively unknown meme coin BILLY, with only three posts on its X account, is on the verge of entering the top 250 cryptocurrencies by market cap following a spectacular 70% surge. Overall, the Solana meme coin segment has witnessed an 11% increase overnight, as confirmed by the data.
