Metaverse platform developer The Sandbox has made a unique move by announcing its ownership of Shiba Inu (SHIB), Dogecoin (DOGE), and other meme coins. The company expressed excitement about integrating these unique cultures into its platform. Originally a mobile video game released in 2012, The Sandbox evolved into an Ethereum-powered gaming world in 2020, enabling users to monetize their experiences through non-fungible tokens. During the NFT boom of 2021, the platform gained popularity as users rushed to buy virtual real estate. Even Snoop Dogg joined the platform, creating his own community called the Snoopverse. The Sandbox recently secured $20 million in funding to further develop its decentralized virtual world. By acquiring meme coins, The Sandbox aims to stay at the forefront of industry trends and promote the culture of creativity within the open metaverse.
