Stuart Alderoty Says SEC Lost on Everything Important to Them Following Ripple’s Final Win Against the SEC

Stuart Alderoty, the lead lawyer for Ripple, has stated that the recent outcome of the legal battle between Ripple and the SEC is a significant win for Ripple and the broader cryptocurrency industry. Following the court ruling that rejected the SEC’s claim that XRP is a security, Ripple has agreed to pay a $125 million fine within 30 days.

The ruling by Judge Torres clarified that XRP itself is not a security, which is a major victory for Ripple. However, the court also found that certain historical sales of XRP should have been registered under securities laws, leading to the imposed fine. Ripple acknowledges this aspect of the ruling and will pay the fine using cash from its balance sheet.

Alderoty emphasized that the SEC lost on everything important to them in this case. The court rejected the SEC’s demand for a $2 billion fine, stating that Ripple did not act recklessly or with intent to defraud, and no financial losses were suffered by the counterparties involved in the transactions.

With the fine set to be paid soon, Ripple is now focusing on growing its business globally and domestically. Alderoty hopes that this case will lead to more clear and consistent laws regarding crypto regulation in the United States, urging the SEC and the current administration to reconsider their approach. Overall, this final win against the SEC marks a significant milestone for Ripple and the crypto industry as a whole.
