Survey Reveals 34.6% of Young Investors in Brazil Opt for Cryptocurrency in Their Investment Portfolios
A recent survey conducted by Rico, a prominent investment platform in Brazil, has shed light on the investment preferences of young investors in the country, particularly their inclination towards cryptocurrency. According to the survey results, approximately 34.6% of investors aged between 24 and 35 included cryptocurrencies in their investment portfolios, making it the fourth most popular investment option after savings, fixed-income products, and stocks.
Cryptocurrency Finds Favor with Young Investors in Brazil
The survey conducted by Rico, an investment and financial services platform, aimed to gauge the investment behavior of young investors in Brazil, revealing their fondness for cryptocurrency as an investment instrument. A total of 1,008 respondents aged between 24 and 35 participated in the poll, which highlighted cryptocurrencies as one of the leading investment choices among Brazilian investors. Approximately 34.6% of the participants confirmed holding cryptocurrencies in their portfolios, ranking just below savings (50%), fixed-income products (41%), and stocks (37.2%). Investment funds followed in fifth place with a score of 33.1%.
While Rico advises against generalizing these findings to all young investors, this survey offers valuable insight into the investment preferences of this specific demographic.
Antonio Sanches, a research analyst at Rico, attributed the relatively lower preference for cryptocurrencies among young investors to the accessibility of traditional options such as savings, which have been a long-standing feature in their lives. He explained, “It is a product that has been consolidated in the lives of Brazilians for a long time and is popular in banks, where investors need to have an account to move money around on a daily basis.”
The survey also highlighted a concerning increase in risky betting activities within this group, emphasizing that these activities cannot be considered as investments due to their inherent risks. Sanches emphasized the importance of investors thoroughly studying and understanding financial products, including factors such as profitability, liquidity, and risks associated with assets, which is absent in the betting market.
Overall, the survey indicates a notable preference for cryptocurrency among young investors in Brazil, reflecting the growing trend of digital asset adoption in the country’s investment landscape.
