Survey: Two thirds of Russian companies see no point in the digital ruble

More than 65% of Russian companies said they see no benefits of the digital ruble for their business. This is evidenced by the data of the service “Aktion Accounting”.

Specialists of “Aktion Accounting” surveyed 1250 representatives of Russian small and medium-sized businesses. Areas of the economy ranged from  construction, trade and transportation to telecommunications and IT. The survey was conducted from July 12 through July 26.

About 65% of those surveyed said they did not understand how to use the new form of money.

Only 7.2% of businessmen call the digital ruble initiative useful. 16.7% consider it useless. Less than 27% understand what a digital ruble is.

The law on introducing the digital ruble into the banking system was passed recently. The Central Bank of the Russian Federation, which is assigned the status of the CBDC platform operator, now has the right to refuse any commercial bank to conduct a transaction. Several large banks have recently announced that they are willing to test real-world transactions with CBDC.

Ingosstrakh Bank CEO Stanislav Danysh said that banks participating in the digital ruble test will begin piloting transactions with real users as early as mid-August.
