SolanaFloor experts reported that Maneki and Cat in a Dogs World collaborated to provide a promotional airdrop, covering the pre-order cost of the Chapter 2 smartphone from Solana Mobile, which was priced at $450.
According to the teams involved, both Saga smartphone owners and those who pre-ordered Chapter 2 received the following:
- 5199 Maneki (MANEKI) tokens;
- 36,700 Cat in a Dogs World (MEW) tokens.
As of April 25, 2024, the tokens were valued at $459, slightly higher than the pre-order price of $450 on the official Solana Mobile website.
However, since then, the asset prices have declined, with MANEKI trading at $0.018 and MEW at $0.0048. Consequently, the valuation of the airdrop plummeted to approximately $270.
It is worth noting that when users pre-ordered Chapter 2, they were required to specify a wallet address on the Solana network. This allowed them to receive the tokens instantly and potentially sell them at a higher price.
In January 2024, Solana Mobile announced Chapter 2, and by February, the number of pre-orders reached over 100,000.
Prior to the Chapter 2 announcement, Saga smartphone owners had already received an airdrop from the BONK project. This caused a surge in sales, as the estimated value of the giveaway was around $900, while the device was priced at $599.
