Taking place on January 5, 2024, the United States authorities successfully apprehended Rodney Burton, the purported architect of the HyperVerse crypto scam. Burton is alleged to have duped investors out of over $7 million by orchestrating deceitful investment scams.
According to Andrew Accardi, an IRS spokesperson, HyperVerse promoters based in Maryland and other locations utilized fraudulent sales tactics to entice potential investors with promises of substantial profits.
Victims who expressed interest in this supposedly “lucrative” scheme were enticed with daily passive incomes ranging from 0.5% to 1%, along with the assurance of multiple deposit increases.
Evidence presented in court documents reveals that this fraudulent scheme was conceived around June 2020. During this timeframe, Burton received a total of 562 transfers from various individuals, amounting to $7.85 million.
