The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation supported the legalization of mining

According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy Pavel Snikkars, the ministry supports the legalization of mining in Russia, but it is necessary to think about the mechanisms of accounting and possible restrictions of miners.

During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Snikkars stressed that there was no need to thoughtlessly allow mining in any place. The Ministry will provide for certain restrictions, so that it does not have to build expensive generating capacity solely to meet the needs of cryptocurrency miners.

“We want miners as a consumer category to be defined. We hope that there will be taxation for this category of consumers. It is important for us to be able to identify them, and we understand that we will have to introduce certain specifics of regulation for them,” the deputy energy minister said.

It should be noted that according to estimates of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, $4 billion worth of cryptocurrencies are mined in Russia every year, and the total profit of miners exceeds 100 billion rubles.

Earlier, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, said that mining activities in Russia will be legalized next year.
