TRON to enable gas-free stablecoin transfers in Q4 2024

TRON founder Justin Sun has announced that his team is developing a solution to enable gas-free stablecoin transfers by Q4 of 2024. Initially, this solution will only be available on the TRON network, but Sun plans to extend it to Ethereum and other EVM-compatible public networks. This development is expected to facilitate the deployment of stablecoin services on the blockchain, promoting mass adoption of blockchain technology.

While Sun has not provided detailed technical specifications, it is likely that the solution will involve using stablecoins themselves to cover gas fees. Instead of paying fees in the native token of the blockchain, users will automatically use a portion of the stablecoin being transferred to cover the transaction costs. The solution may incorporate smart contracts to handle the conversion and payment of fees in stablecoins.

Validators will need to update their software to accept stablecoin payments for transaction processing, potentially involving changes at a fundamental level of TRON’s blockchain protocol. Meanwhile, users will no longer need to hold separate tokens to conduct stablecoin transactions, streamlining the process for those primarily involved with stablecoins.

Lowering the cost of transactions will improve the overall user experience on these blockchains, making it easier to send and receive stablecoins and likely leading to increased adoption.
